CANNES DIDN'T SEE IT COMING!
Finally an update on Cannes from the ever elusive Gordon Alexander:
“Well, Cannes, what can I say?” One big
party is an understatement! Just a pity Malcolm, Joe and the crew
missed out. It’s tough at the front guys!
Anyhow, occasionally I did find the legs
to go do the necessary rounds and chat to some people in the know.
In fact, the response was all incredibly positive. All the sales
agents I targeted to go see watched, transfixed, for the full fourteen
and a half minutes of various scenes which were selected ( in no
particular order, other than to show a cross section of the film)
and were suitably impressed enough to express their interests in
watching the finished product with a serious view to buying it.
You can’t ask for more than that when you’re taking scenes
in there rawest state without finished sound design and a music
score. However, trust me when I say the potential is there in abundance
in what has far surpassed all of our expectations, for a hot little
flick.
After a full on ten days or so ( leave
the rest to your fertile imaginations) I returned to London thinking
“shit, I need a holiday”, so, I hoped on another plane
and went to Shanghai for their film festival, and guess what? Yep,
you got it (did you?) the Asians are interested too! So all in all
I’m feeling quite chuffed with the outcome. The only thing
that remains is to push the baby out!
